- Every time someone connects to the internet with a single phone line
- they are cutting anyone off who wants to reach them. I need to remain
- available but cannot afford another line. Does anyone know how to do this?
- I have tried call waiting, a telephone service which produces a beep
- on the line when another call is waiting, after which you use the hangup
- switch to switch between calls. I had hoped this interference would hang the
- computer up, letting me answer the other call. This did not happen, nor was
- the tone loud enough to hear over the computer's noise.
- Is there any program I can get which will hangup at the interference
- of the beep? Or perhaps something which reduces the volume of the modem's
- communication noise? I have noticed that the sound switches between two
- volumes, the lower of which I can hear the tone on. Does anyone know how this
- problem can be solved? Everyone must have to deal with the same thing.
